Meet The Guest
Dr. John T. McGreevy
John T. McGreevy has served as the Charles and Jill Fischer Provost since July 2022. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Notre Dame and his master’s and doctoral degrees in history from Stanford University. He is the Francis A. McAnaney Professor of History at the University and served as the I.A. O’Shaughnessy Dean of Notre Dame’s College of Arts and Letters from 2008 to 2018. He is an acclaimed historian with a focus on both American and global religion and politics and has authored four books that explore the people and the impact of the Catholic Church. As provost, John is Notre Dame’s chief academic officer, charged with stewarding the University's teaching and research mission and leading strategic academic initiatives on behalf of the University.
